Barracoon the Piper

Barracoon is the master of the Vermin Horde and bane to those that seek the Skull of Greed. Beware this sly foe. An ordinary looking man in appearance, Barracoon controls legions of rats and ratmen. If an adventurer is not careful, they may find themselves lulled by the Piper's music and joining his rag-tag band of whiskered minions.

Tactics

Barracoon the Piper will turn any attacker (regardless of whether the attacker has levied any damage to him, or has used a non-damaging aggressive spell) into a Ratman for a period of time. This may be prevented by casting incognito, applying savage kin paint, or casting the Polymorph spell. It's presently unknown whether a character can stay unaffected by polymorphing into the same gender, but a character can polymorph into the opposite gender to remain unaffected by Baracoon's polymorph attack, to not go gray, and to continue using a mount.

Barracoon's slayer vulnerability is Repond. [[Vermin Slayer talismans also increase the melee damage done to Barracoon in the same manner of a Repond Slayer.

When Barracoon spawns, he appears in his human form and casts spells very quickly. These spells lack Evaluating Intelligence to do significant damage, though they can disrupt targets. Barracoon will turn into a Ratman himself after he has received some damage. Slayer weapons, spellbooks, and talismans will not effect Barracoon until he has turned into a rat.
