"The Great Ape" is a quest offered by Khaonem The Barako High Chief at the Barako Encampment in the Valley of Eodon. It is part of the Quest Chain Uniting the Tribes.

Rafkin say you can help Barako. Barako do not trust you. You want Barako trust, then you battle Great Ape. You go to banana cave and ape no eat you, then Barako trust you. The Chief motions you northeast toward the nearby banana cave*''

Quest Lore
Exit Barako Encampment, heading north, follow the water north and east. You'll begin to see more banana plants until you see an area to cross to the banana cave (1.24n 41.37w). You can also teleport there using a Moonstone Crystal under 'The Great Ape Cave':

Enter the cave and journey to the cavern where there are stockpiles of bananas. The Great Ape is located within.

Special Abilities
- Throws you into a pit where Silverback Gorillas will spawn and overwhelm you
- Teleports to another part of the cave
- Throws exploding barrels at you
- Hits the ground, causing an earthquake that disorients, dismounts, and slows you
- Jumps up onto the raised area in the center of the cave, becomes invulnerable, and throws barrels at you (a la Donkey Kong style)

- The Great Ape drops high percentage crafting talismans
- This quest is repeatable
- The Great Ape respawns in about 5 minutes
- The Great Ape can be a good spot for pet training
