Fishing Poles can be created by carpenters for fishermen. You must equip one in order to pull fish from the sea. Bait may be applied to fishing poles to help attract certain types of exceedingly rare fish as well as special hooks like Lava Proof Hook, Junk Proof Hook and Dredging Hook.
Fishing Poles are somewhat useless as a melee weapon when swung at hostile Sea Serpents and other creatures of the deep. However, poles crafted from frostwood or heartwood can come with the Spell Channeling property, hence offering some level on convenience to the fishing mage.
