๐ก๏ธ Armor refinement
Armor Refinements were introduced in Publish 81. They can be applied to non-medable armor only. They are used to improve your armor's individual resist or defense chance increase.
Transmogified armor cannot be refined.
Refinement Components
Armor Refinements are crafted from refinement components which can be collected from: - Treasure Maps - MiB Chests - Merchant Ships - Pirate Ships - Town shop container stealables - Champion Bosses
Refinement Types
There are two types of refinements.
- Deflecting - Increase max defense chance increase by one while decreasing max individual resist.
- Reinforced - Increase max individual resist while lowering max defense chance increase by one.
Refinement Varieties
Each of the refinement types come in 3 different varieties for the different armor types.
| Deflecting | Reinforced | Skill |
|---|---|---|
| Wash | Cure | Tailoring |
| Polish | Scour | Blacksmith |
| Gloss | Varnish | Carpentry |
Refinement Levels
There are five different levels of refinement. Each level has a guaranteed number of modifications with and chance to apply more.
| Type | Guaranteed | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Defense | 1 | 0 |
| Protection | 1 | 2 |
| Hardening | 2 | 3 |
| Fortification | 3 | 4 |
| Invulnerability | 4 | 5 |
Raw Materials
You must combine the refinement components with 20 of the associated raw materials, which are available from vendors (Blacksmith, Carpenter, Weavers). The combination will need to be preformed by a crafter of at least GM skill.
- Leather Braid
- Malleable Alloy
- Solvent Flask
Combining
The refinement components and raw materials are combined by the crafter to create the usable refinement.
| Armor Type | Deflect Component | Reinforce Component | Raw Materials | Skill |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bone | Wash | Cured | Leather Braid | Tailoring |
| Chainmail | Scour | Polish | Malleable Alloy | Blacksmith |
| Dragon | Scour | Polish | Malleable Alloy | Blacksmith |
| Gargish Platemail | Scour | Polish | Malleable Alloy | Blacksmith |
| Gargish Stone | Varnish | Gloss | Solvent Flask | Carpentry |
| Hide | Wash | Cure | Leather Braid | Tailoring |
| Platemail | Scour | Polish | Malleable Alloy | Blacksmith |
| Ringmail | Scour | Polish | Malleable Alloy | Blacksmith |
| Samurai Plate | Scour | Polish | Malleable Alloy | Blacksmith |
| Studded Leather | Wash | Cure | Leather Braid | Tailoring |
| Studded Samurai | Wash | Cure | Leather Braid | Tailoring |
| Woodland | Varnish | Gloss | Solvent Flask | Carpentry |
The resulting combination creates a new usable refinement. These combined refinements can be used by anyone, no skill is required, but the character must be in the correct location.
| Skill | Deflecting | Reinforcing |
|---|---|---|
| Blacksmith | Polished Plating | Scoured Plating |
| Carpenter | Glazed Resin | Varnished Resin |
| Tailor | Washed Thread | Cured Thread |
Refinement Minimums and Maximums:
- Defense Chance Increase cap can be increased to as high as 70, or as low as 25 when raising resist caps.
- Resist caps can be increased to as high at 75 (for elves, energy resist goes to 80), and as low as 65 when raising the DCI cap.
Refinement Locations
Blacksmith - The Hammer and Anvil, Britain, Trammel - Warrior's Supplies, Cove, Felucca
Carpenter - Bloody Thumb Woodworks, Yew, Trammel - From Tree to Yew, Jhelom
Tailor - Adventurer's Clothing, Trinsic, Trammel - A Stitch in Time, Ocllo, Felucca
Notes
- Using a Refinement Amalgamator you can combine lesser refinements into to greater ones.
- Armor refinements and components are insurable.
- GM Blacksmith, Tailoring, or Carpentry skill is required to craft an armor refinement. The refinement, however, can be applied by anyone so long as they are in the correct shop location.
- Tooltips are available on refinement components and tools indicating useful information.
- There is now a gump to assist in Armor Refinement. Specific resistance modification order can be selected from the gump.
