Animal Taming
To tame a beast to accept you as master requires patience, nerve, and willpower. Tamers are versatile PvM powerhouses and useful in many encounters. Animal Taming (with Animal Lore) determines your chance to tame and control creatures, is required to bond certain pets, and contributes to your stable slot limit.
- Start a tame within 3 tiles (no obstructions), then you may drift out to 10 tiles while the attempt channels.
- The attempt fails if the pet is injured or loses line of sight.
- Monsters often auto-fail the first click; set a macro and spam attempts until channeling starts.
- Veterinary is essential: it’s the only way to resurrect dead pets.

📈 Training
Taming gains only from active use and a creature grants gains once when tamed, so expect a slow, hands-on grind. To keep spawns flowing, release and kill as you progress (or keep a few tames to help cull).
- 0–30: Train at an NPC Stable Master.
- 30–45: Cows, Sheep (e.g., Delucia).
- 45–60: Hinds, Timber Wolves (near the Huntsman).
- 60–75: Walrus, Polar Bears (best: Dagger Isle).
- 75–85: Snow Leopards, Panthers (stay on Dagger Isle; favor Snow Leopards).
- 85–100: Great Harts, White Wolves ( Healer’s Grove north of Sacrifice moongate, Ilshenar; or outside Delucia).
- 100–120: Ridgebacks, Bulls
- Ilshenar plains north of Blackthorn’s Castle (west from Compassion moongate).
- Faster: Savage camp south of the castle. Apply Tribal Paint, use the pen that spawns 2 Ridgebacks nonstop (tame → kill → ~15s respawn).
Mastery trick (90–120): Cast Combat Training on a pet, ignore the pop-up, repeat.
(Requires Animal Taming Skill Mastery.)
✅ Do’s & ❌ Don’ts
Do - Keep a target-specific armor set (cheap pieces are fine). - Stack Damage Eater suited to target: e.g., Cold/Energy for Cu Sidhe, Fire/Physical/Kinetic for Greater Dragons. - Aim for Hit Point Increase and HP Regeneration on armor. - Soften targets first (lower HP) so they move slower during taming. - Carry Orange Petals (cheaper than insurance).
Don’t - Don’t wear Reflect Physical Damage: reflected chip damage breaks taming. - Avoid prized insured items (insurance cost balloons). - Don’t paralyze-tame pets that can roll GM+ skills—it can lower their max skill caps.
🔧 Control & Bonding Notes
- Animal Taming + Animal Lore drive control chance and bonding eligibility.
- You must feed/command properly to bond; some high-end pets also require Veterinary for long-term care.
- Stable slot maximum is influenced by your taming-related skills and certain rewards/items.
