Arms Lore
Arms Lore supports crafting and (formerly) item assessment. While any character can now read condition from an item’s tooltip, Arms Lore still provides crafting bonuses to weapons and armor.
Basics
- Professional Title: Warrior
- Skill Cap: 100.0
- NPC Trainers: Armorer, Blacksmith, Blacksmith Guildmaster, Weaponsmith, Weapons Trainer, Fighter, Warrior, Mercenary, Paladin, Merchant Guildmaster, Warrior Guildmaster.
Arms Lore was upgraded in Publish 44; it’s no longer a “useless” skill.
Crafting Bonuses
Applies to exceptionally crafted gear and stacks with Runic Tool properties.
-
Weapons (metal or wood):
DamageIncrease_bonus = floor(ArmsLore / 20)%→ up to +5% at 100.0
(Siege Perilous:floor(ArmsLore / 12.5)%→ up to +8%) -
Armor (leather, metal, wood):
RandomResist_bonus = floor(ArmsLore / 20)%→ up to +5% at 100.0
(Siege Perilous:floor(ArmsLore / 12.5)%→ up to +8%)
Training
Active
- 0–30: Train at an NPC (Blacksmith, Armorer, or Warrior Guildmaster).
- 30–100: Use the skill repeatedly on gear. Gains can occur every use; expect ~25 hours to GM.
Speed-ups: Scroll of Alacrity, or train while discorded by a Satyr.
How to use (active):
1. Trigger Arms Lore (macro, skill gump, or skill list blue button).
2. Target a weapon or armor piece.
- Failure: “You are not certain…”
- Success: “You study the item in an attempt to learn more about its craftsmanship and use.”
Hands-free loop idea: Craft ~200 daggers, secure them, then use a macro that targets “by type” to cycle through nearby daggers.
Passive
- Gain Arms Lore while crafting weapons or armor via: Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Carpentry, Tinkering, Bowcraft.
(No gains from shields or ammunition.)
History
- Pre-Age of Shadows, Arms Lore was required for Wrestling specials Stun and Disarm (requirement removed).
- The messages below are from the old assessment system (kept here as legacy flavor).
